Net sales for The Toro Co., Bloomington, Minn., for the fiscal third quarter ended Aug. 2, 2013, up 1.2 percent compared to a year ago. The company also reported net earnings of $40.1 million for the quarter.

The year La Crosse Tent & Awning, La Crosse, Wis., opened for business, mostly repairing horse-drawn wagons or canvas tents. Celebrating 150 years in business, the company, owned by Dolores and Larry Sloggy, now sells and rents tents, and makes and sells residential and commercial awnings made from fabric and aluminum. It also rents chairs, tables, linens, china, glassware, lights, staging and sound equipment for parties and events.

Percentage increase in second quarter revenues for WesternOne, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to $103.2 million. Profits for the quarter increased to $3.8 million compared to a $1.4 million loss a year ago. Rental and sales organic revenue increased by 16 percent on higher fleet usage and demand for aerial equipment, construction heating and power services, according to the company.

The portion of the U.S. that will have below-average temperatures this winter. Only the Far West and Southeast will experience somewhat normal winter temperatures, the Farmers’ Almanac states. The forecast also calls for a cold winter for much of Canada, stating that a large area of below-normal temps will cover the area from east of the Rocky Mountains to the Eastern Great Lakes.

Number of years Gehl Co., now Manitou Americas, West Bend, Wis., has been designing and manufacturing its own line of skid loaders in Madison, Wis. The first Gehl-brand skid loader was manufactured in July 1973. Today, the company makes seven radial and three vertical lift models under the Gehl brand name.

Rental revenue for Sunbelt Rentals, Fort Mill, S.C., for the first quarter ended July 31, 2013, up 25 percent. Sunbelt showed a 17 percent increase in average fleet on rent and a 6 percent improvement in yield as well as physical utilization of 73 percent. The results helped Ashtead Group, Sunbelt’s U.K.-based parent company, show first quarter revenue growth of 24 percent to $641.5 million.
